- Indian & Global Environment: This is a general knowledge section covering current affairs, business and economy, static general knowledge (history, geography, politics, science), and important events relevant to India and the world. While usually not included in the percentile calculation for many institutes, performing well here can be a differentiator.
Each section typically consists of 40 questions, making the total number of questions 200.
MAT Test Rules and Regulations
Candidates appearing for the MAT exam must adhere to specific rules:
- Identity Verification: A valid admit card and photo ID proof are mandatory for entry.

MAT Scoring and Evaluation
The MAT exam typically has a marking scheme where each correct answer fetches +1 mark, and each incorrect answer results in a deduction of 0.25 marks (negative marking). Unattempted questions carry no penalty. The raw scores are then scaled to generate percentile scores. The score for the Indian & Global Environment section is usually not included in the calculation of the overall composite score and percentile for admission purposes by many B-schools, but individual institutes may consider it.
