Test Rules and Format
This mock test simulates Paper-I of the SSC JE Civil Engineering exam. It will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be completed within 120 minutes. The questions are divided into three main sections:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 questions
- General Awareness: 50 questions
- Civil Engineering (Technical): 100 questions
Each question will have four options, out of which only one is correct. You will receive 1 mark for each correct answer and there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.
Scoring and Passing Marks
The total marks for Paper-I are 200. The scoring is objective, with 1 mark for correct answers and a deduction of 0.25 marks for incorrect ones. There are no fixed passing marks (cut-off) determined beforehand; instead, the cut-off marks are decided by the SSC based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of vacancies, and the total number of candidates appearing for the exam. Candidates who clear the Paper-I cut-off are then eligible to appear for Paper-II.
Preparation Tips for SSC JE Civil Engineering
- Understand the Syllabus Thoroughly: Go through every topic listed in the official syllabus. Don't skip any section, as questions can come from anywhere.
- Master Basic Concepts: Focus on strengthening your fundamentals in all civil engineering subjects. Many questions are direct applications of basic principles.
- Practice Reasoning and General Awareness: These sections are often scoring. Practice a wide variety of reasoning puzzles and stay updated with current events and static GK.
- Time Management: The exam has a time limit. Practice solving questions quickly and accurately. Use mock tests to improve your speed and develop a strategy for attempting the paper.
- Solve Previous Year Papers: This is crucial. Solving past papers will give you an idea of the exam pattern, question types, and important topics. It also helps in identifying your weak areas.
- Revision is Key: Regularly revise all formulas, concepts, and facts. Create short notes for quick revision.
- Accuracy over Attempts: While speed is important, accuracy is paramount due to negative marking. Avoid wild guesses.
